POD hosts up to three week-long, all-day summer camps each year for students ages 5-15.  The goal of the summer camps is to provide students with the experience of day-long immersion into music: the everyday experience of musicians in India. Students get more training in one day than they would usually receive in a month or more.  The focus is not on expansion of repertoire, but rather on improving stamina, speed and power of playing with students’ core material.  Camp attendees also benefit from lecture-demonstrations by local musicians and kathak dancers.  For older students, opportunities are available to assist in camp activities and assume leadership roles for the younger students.  Parents of each attendee receive a detailed before-and-after assessment from Chaz to document the growth that took place during the camp.

Students who attend the camp must meet basic proficiency requirements.  If your child is not currently enrolled in POD but you would like him or her to attend the camps, please contact Chaz and he will help determine the enrollment eligibility of your child.
